Haley Industries Ltd.

Haley Industries Limited, formerly known as Light Alloys Limited, was an integral partner in manufacturing the Canadian supersonic fighter aircraft, the AVRO Arrow. Now a wholly owned division of the Magellan Aerospace Corporation, Haley Industries Ltd. produces sand castings for North American and European aerospace programs. These parts include engine inlet cases, accessory gearbox housings, helicopter main transmissions, compressor inlet housings, pump housings, generator housings and constant speed drive housings.

Project Details:

• Secretary to the Joint Health and Safety committee. Co-coordinator of Planned Inspections and follow up for recommendations arising.
• Implemented Confined Space Policy.
• Implemented Silica Control Program and workplace improvements to decrease silica levels.
• Review of all MSDS sheets looking for carcinogenic and health hazard chemicals from long-term exposure and working to eliminate what is not needed and design a better control program for what needs to be kept.
• Review of all active and inactive WSIB cases under the NEER window.
• A number of appeals for SIEF have been written.
